she says...

“Talk to me of your dread fears
show me inside your head,
through salty wet cheek rivers
where your eyes have bled.

Don’t shout and scream in silence
please tell me aloud instead.
Your torment is real and
angry but I know

behind blue eyes your private thoughts
breathe softly when you say my name.”
"Think of it this way, " I reply
"the price of life is pain."

Always with your stuff there is a steel resolve. An honesty and an integrity that I admire. Don't always like what you say but then again that is just the way of things isn't it?

Powerful. Passionate. Pained.

From the cradle to the grave the road we walk is a mess of confusion.

Finn - the confusion is hardly surprising when you put it in that highly thought-provoking way. There are contradictions everywhere it seems. I meant this to be painful and hard because it is.

CJ - thanks for your honesty, the 'mess of confusion' is pretty evident right now. I don't always like my own subject matter either but if it moves me passionately then I feel compelled to record it. This short conversation was a real one and charged with painful emotion. Yet at the same time it was utterly compassionate and understanding.

My resolve may not always be optimistic but I believe I am a realist rather than a pessimist.

Writing is one of the ways we transcend the pain. I sense you doing that here, PV. It doesn't erase it, but it gives us something concrete we can do with it.

Beautiful picture - beautiful post. Beautiful YOU.

Patry - how true that is. Bending my thoughts into the restrictive rules of poetry makes the exercise even tougher. I could have gone on but thought less was more.

JJ - I stopped on a motorcycle ride a weeks ago to take the picture at sunset. The pink and grey matched my mood so I used it today.

Sirreene - no it's very tough sometimes. Writing helps to make sense of the emotions but does nothing to dampen them.

Amazingly well captured ;-)

Grace - well you're a sensitive scorpio so I knew you'd understand this one.

the price of joy is pain; the price of life is death. unless we are willing to pay, we cannot appreciate and play.

Perfect Virgo said...

Morgan - I am willing to pay the entrance fee, I just like to point out how high the price is. 'Appreciate and play,' I like that.

Morgan said...

the price is as high as the stakes. Methinks you have much to lose. Don't you think the prize should be worth the loss?

Perfect Virgo said...

Finn - to 'build a heaven in hell's despair' would be a great way of coping.

Morgan - perceptive thoughts indeed. The losses could be severe and still the prize unattainable, so choices have to be carefully considered. At least my escape from the Corporate rut is on track so one hassle is removed. You can weed a whole garden over time, one weed at a time - pulling out the roots should avoid regrowth. (Perhaps I'll talk in riddles for the rest of my life?)

Oh God, that was powerful. And there is always beauty in the pain, isn't there? At least I've found that.

Jen - always beauty Jen, always. I often wonder how many people really feel love, I mean really feel it deep down.

what a beautiful poem. as JJ would say, "i see you".

thank-you so much for your comments, i needed to hear that! you immediately felt familiar when i started to read your blog, and i can see that our personalities are quite similar, even our writing style in some ways...

i think you may be right about the astrology thing, because both my parents are virgo, and i was due to be born in september but was overdue. also, my closest friends and boyfriends have been virgo.

thanks for reaching out, and making me feel a little less strange.

take care :)

Jane - swift response but I think I expected that! Character types and traits are a fascinating subject. Feeling an affinity gave me the spur to reach out. Thanks for enjoying the poem.
