Ramp (or wind tunnel) to the pontoon

At 8am on a cold Feb morning this is the last place you want to be. Low tide pulls the ramp down to a 45 degree slope and an icy north wind is howling up here like a hurricane. I'm first in the queue today, worth it if only to get a front seat. Looking forward to a bouncy ride over the Hythe stretch of the River Test, to be made all the more unpleasant by the sickly aroma of juicyfruit chewing gum, mindless converstions and grating ringtones. Ear buds in and turn up the music I think.
